Disposing of construction waste in Pforzheim and the Enzkreis

Renovation or demolition often produces more construction waste than expected. Where it goes depends on where it arises: the city of Pforzheim and the Enzkreis each have their own rules. This overview sums up what the waste authorities state, and shows when it makes sense to hand the disposal over.

As of October 2026. Opening hours, quantities and fees change. Please check with the responsible waste authority before you deliver.

What counts as construction waste, and what does not?

Construction waste (Bauschutt) usually means mineral material, such as bricks, concrete, tiles or mortar. The waste authorities distinguish further: recyclable mineral rubble is handled differently from gypsum, plasterboard or aerated concrete.

The Enzkreis lists as recyclable, for example, bricks, concrete, natural stone, clinker, sand-lime brick and roof tiles. It lists as not recyclable, for example, gypsum, plasterboard, plaster, aerated concrete (Ytong), pumice stone and glass blocks. The material should be sorted by type as far as possible and not mixed with soil or foreign materials such as plastic or paper.

Timber, insulation, carpet or roofing felt, for example, are not construction waste in the strict sense. They are other types of waste. Uncontaminated excavated soil also has its own rules in both areas.

City of Pforzheim: Entsorgungszentrum Hohberg

According to Abfallwirtschaft Pforzheim, construction waste is accepted at the Entsorgungszentrum Hohberg (Müllumschlagstation). The Wertstoffhöfe in Büchenbronn, Eutingen and Huchenfeld do not accept construction waste.

Mineral construction waste and construction waste containing gypsum are separate categories there. For both, the waste authority states a maximum of 1.5 tonnes per delivery, and a fee is charged for acceptance. Excavated soil is handled separately.

For larger quantities, Abfallwirtschaft Pforzheim points to construction waste recycling and private disposal companies in its waste A to Z (Abfall-ABC). Current opening hours and fees are on the Abfallwirtschaft Pforzheim website.

Enzkreis: Recyclinghöfe and Entsorgungszentrum Hamberg

In the Enzkreis, the Recyclinghöfe accept recyclable mineral construction waste up to half a cubic metre. Larger quantities belong at a Bauschuttrecyclinganlage (construction waste recycling plant). Non-recyclable construction waste such as gypsum or plaster is also accepted in small quantities at the Recyclinghöfe, with material containing gypsum kept separate from gypsum-free material.

The Entsorgungszentrum Hamberg in Maulbronn accepts smaller quantities from private households. For larger quantities, you need to register there beforehand.

Delivery is by car, trailer or small van, and you sort the material into the marked containers yourself. For 2026, Abfallwirtschaft Enzkreis states a fee of 40 Euro per started 100 litres for construction waste at the Recyclinghöfe. Delivery is also limited to 3 cubic metres per week and per person delivering.

Uncontaminated excavated soil should be reused on site where possible, or passed on through the Erdaushubbörse (excavated soil exchange). The Enzkreis does not run any excavated soil landfills itself.

Larger quantities: what are the options?

If you have more construction waste than the small-quantity collection points accept, there are essentially three ways: take it to a construction waste recycling plant yourself, hire a disposal company, or hand the disposal over.

AS ABBRUCH handles construction waste disposal and collection even when there is no demolition or strip-out. Whether collection is possible for your property and your quantity, we clarify in a personal conversation. A few photos and a rough estimate of the quantity help most.

Check before you deliver

  • Separate the material by type: do not mix mineral waste, waste containing gypsum and other waste.
  • Estimate the quantity and compare it with the limits of the collection point.
  • Check opening hours and fees with the waste authority on the day of delivery. They change.
  • Keep excavated soil separate from construction waste.
